Alexis Rukundo

Alexis Rukundo is a senior Risk Advisory and Governance professional with over 20 years of experience in project management, institutional strengthening, public financial management, and corporate governance across Rwanda and the wider African region. He is currently a Manager – Risk Advisory at BDO East Africa (Rwanda), where he leads governance, risk, and compliance engagements including Board evaluations, Board remuneration benchmarking, post-merger integration support, HR policies and manuals, and institutional reform projects for financial institutions and public sector entities.

Alexis has managed complex donor-funded and advisory assignments, delivering regulator-aligned and practical solutions across government, development partners, regional institutions, and the private sector. He brings strong Board-level experience, having served as Chairperson, Board Member, and Audit/Risk Committee member across financial institutions, cooperatives, insurance companies, and international NGOs. He holds a master’s degree in economics, is PMD Pro certified, and is fluent in English and French, with extensive exposure across Eastern and Western Africa.
