Sylvester Njumbe, FCA, PhD, is a seasoned chartered accountant and structural engineer with over two decades of professional experience spanning the UK and sub-Saharan Africa. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) London in 1998, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW in 2001 and later becoming a Fellow in 2011. Sylvester's journey with PwC Francophone Africa began in 2003, leading to various leadership roles including Head of Assurance for Congo and Territory Assurance Leader for nine Francophone African countries. In 2025, he joined BDO East and Central Africa, bringing along the former PwC Congo Assurance practice, where he continues to focus on client service excellence and staff development.
Sylvester brings extensive expertise in audit and advisory services, particularly in the Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, and mobile financial services sectors. He is also well-versed in PCAOB audits, IFRS, and US GAAP standards, and has recently been active in ESG reporting and EITI compliance advisory. A dedicated trainer, he has developed and led sessions on complex accounting areas such as deferred tax, cash flow preparation, and industry-specific standards. Academically, he holds a PhD and Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Salford, earned through prestigious scholarships, and is an alumnus of St. Joseph’s College Sasse in Cameroon.
